The company has made workforce development a priority, creating pathways that connect students with real-world career opportunities in the professional smart home industry.
Diode LED – Lucetta CI partners with local high schools and the University of Nevada to give students the opportunity to participate in job-shadowing days across multiple facets of their business operations. From marketing to manufacturing, participants get an inside look at the wide range of career paths within the smart home industry. Those who discover a passion in a particular area can continue their journey through internships that prepare them for future careers.
The company is also making strides with younger students. Through partnerships with K–12 schools, Diode LED – Lucetta CI regularly participates in innovation fairs like the Invention Convention, a project-based learning program that empowers students to solve real-world problems through the invention process. A key component of their presentation at these events is the use of interactive “light kits” that really capture the attention of students in this age group, allowing them to experience the technology in action.
These workforce development efforts are led by Sarah Sommers, Diode LED – Lucetta CI’s Vice President of HR & Training. Sommers has deep roots in workforce development, having previously worked with business and industry initiatives at the state level through the Governor’s Workforce Development Board. Her dedication has led to the career placement of many jobseekers who have found their passion and are actively shaping the professional smart home industry today.
