The CEDIA Foundation envisions a smart home industry powered by a strong, diverse talent pipeline that begins in schools and youth organizations where students first discover the possibilities of a career in smart home technology. We see a future where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, has equal access to the training, mentorship, and career connections needed to enter and thrive in this industry, so that anyone who wishes to build a career in smart home technology has the opportunity to do so.
Within five years, the CEDIA Foundation will establish relationships across the industry to create multiple training facilities around the world, giving aspiring professionals hands-on access to the skills and certifications needed to launch a career in smart home technology.
We will ensure that participation in this training is free of cost, by removing financial barriers for students, career changers, and anyone seeking new employment in the industry, so that ability and ambition, not affordability, determine who can pursue this career path.
We will establish targeted relationships with youth trade organizations such as SkillsUSA and FIRST Robotics, along with high schools and community colleges, to introduce students to career opportunities within the smart home industry and connect them to training and career pathways.
We will build partnerships with organizations that support underserved individuals, working to close equity gaps and improve career outcomes for those who have historically faced barriers to entering the industry.
